Day5 Versailles

Took a train to  Versailles, stopped at a French market for lunch supplies then biked around the palace grounds (2000 plus acres, we didn't bike it all obviously !) . Covered approximately 10 miles, ate a picnic lunch overlooking the Chateau. Met some interesting people , including an executive with Apple (Eric tried to later stalk him on the internet without success). We learned a little history and got to see the inside of the Chateau at the end. Returned to Paris hot and tired. All in all, another memorable day!

Hamlet in a village near the main Chateau that Louis XVI had built for Marie Antoinette. So she had a place to "get away from it all"...

This is not the Tour de France!

Hall of Mirrors: Picture does not do this room justice. Arched windows on one side with matching mirrors on the opposite wall to perfectly reflect the light. Designed for Louis XIV "The Sun King"

Alexander : "It's about 1000 degrees in here".  I suppose if the Kings could live without air-conditioning , we can "rough it" too!


Heading back to Paris, all three of us fell asleep on the train. We missed our stop, but at least woke up before we got to Germany :)
